schneiderProf. Dr. Francisc Schneider MD, PhD, DHC

He was born on July 27, 1933 in Timişoara, where he attended primary school and high school (1940-1951) and then the Faculty of Medicine (1951-1957).

Between 1957 and 1960 he was a physician at Certeze-Negreşti Oaş, where he, over the years, became an Honorary Citizen of the commune.

Between 1960 and 1998 he was a teacher and researcher at the Physiology Department of the Faculty of Medicine at the Victor Babeş University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timişoara.

 

– professor at the „Vasile Goldiș” Western University of Arad, being the vice-rector of the University.

-He went through all stages of the academic career: preparatory, assistant, head of works, lecturer, professor, head of department, doctoral supervisor and director of research contracts.

-He was editor-in-chief of the Fiziologia-Physiology journal, the Official Journal of the Romanian Society of Physiological Sciences in 1991

-He was a member of the Academy of Medical Sciences, a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts – Salzburg, Austria, a member of the Physiological Society – London, England and an honorary member of the Hungarian Society of Physiological Sciences.

-He has received many distinctions: The „Ratz Samuel” Medal of the Hungarian Society of Physiological Sciences, Academia Brasiliera Medal ”Em tributo pe la luta no integracao dos noscos dois paises Brasil e Romania”, Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Iuliu Haţieganu” Cluj-Napoca, Honorary Diploma CNCSIS – National Council of Scientific Research 2003, Crystal Trophy at Medical Life Gala 2010, The Silver Medal „20 years of institutional history”  at „Vasile Goldiș” Western University of Arad (2010) and Professor Emeritus (2011)…

– He was a founding member of the “Academician Nicolae Cajal” Center for Jewish Studies at „Vasile Goldiș” Western University of Arad, being part of the scientific council of the STUDIA IUDAICA ARADENSIS magazine.
